Welcome,

the design-team of Pirat would like to welcome you and hope that you will enjoy browsing through our homepage.

As an all-in-one chess-software, Pirat offers apart from other very interesting features::

  • Six print modules, including print preview (diagram, game, letter, postcard, address, database)

  • An administration-tool for correspondence tournaments and email/fax tournaments

  • An email-tool (PiratChessMail) for receiving and sending emails over the SMTP/POP3 - interface. (Special feature: sending at predefined time) Starting with GUI 1.1.0 IMAP-Server like AOL are supported.

  • A database and a tournament administration tool which fully supports the international PGN format (for small databases). Futhermore it uses the proprietary PIR format for large databases.

  • Access to the Nalimov Endspieldatenbanken including an TB-generator.

  • Manipulatation of the analysis by elimating moves/variation from the analysis. Starting with GUI 1.0.2 it is possible to disable the analysis of moves by UCI-engines, assuming this feature is supported by the engine.

  • Support of the UCI standard enables games under the Pirat-GUI against other UCI-engines like Ruffian or Shredder, as well as Winboard Engines such as Crafty via UCI adapter.

  • UCI tournaments: Let UCI Engines (Winboard Engines over the UCI adapter) play against each other run or against Pirat. A statistic tool helps to identify weaknesses of Engines. ELO-calculation is possible too. Starting with GUI 1.0.2 Pirat supports Crosstable-tournaments.

  • Support of the Autoplayer-protocolls allows games against other chess-programs on second hardware platform.

  • An own strong engine

Last correspondence chess successes of the chess programmers:

Jürgen Wolf won against the former correspondence chess world champion Fritz Baumbach (SC Friesen Lichtenberg 1) in the season 99-01.

Klaus Wolf managed to achieve 7 out of 8 possible points in the highest correspondence league for  teams.

Both chess programmers are active members of the wellknown correspondence chessclub Schachunion München/SC Pasing.
