Pirat offers you the possibility to generate and extend opening books. For example you may want to create an opening book using your favourite system once and for all time. As soon as you start a correspondence chess tournament you check your opening-book instead of many books. In addition you can double-check your system by Pirat or any other supported engine.

It is possible to generate opening books in two ways. The first is the harder one, by entering the book manually. The more powerful approach is to use the filter-option available within the clipboard and copy parts of the result into your opening-book.

In above example Pirat uses the opening book pir_weiss with white and the opening library pir_schwarz for black. By generating opening books you can force Pirat to play a certain opening to play and have the possibility of check your pet-system with Pirat.
