Analysis window
the analysis window (left down you see the Logo of the Piratengine) The analysis window provides you information about the analysis of the current position. In above example the best three moves and continuation are shown. Of course it is possible to analyze the current position with any UCI engine or Winboard engines (over the UCI adapter). Depending on the Engine engine-specific restrictions are possible.
Analysis by the UCI engine Ruffian 1.0.1 Pirat offers you the feature to exclude moves from the analysis. In the following example using the move-browser all moves except 34.Rcf8 and 34.Rhf8 were excluded from the analysis:
all other moves will get a definable value (here -65 was assigned to all other moves) In case the engine accesses the endgame tablebase, the analysis window will indicate so. In the following example Pirat played d5. This is the fastest to win the game (check mate in 59 half moves):
The E in the first column stands for access from the endgame tablebase. Minimum requirement is of course that the tablebases are installed for white and black krpkr.nbw.emd and krpkr.nbb.emd (k ing + r ook + p awn against k ing+ r ook). Feature: + Schaltfläche erhöht die anzuzeigende Variantenzahl
+ and - button: With + and - you can change the number of variants shown. The exact calculation of a variant costs however analysis time. Therefore you should only ask for as many variants as absolutely necessarily. The designer of pirat usually start first an analysis with up to three variants , and double-check the move we think is best, by restarting the analysis with the option of one variant only. Usually the last search will be one to tow ply deeper than the first one.. Hint: With the help of the move-browser you are able to remove all unreasonable moves from the search. Often only 3 reasonable moves are possible. For all other moves you should assign a stop sign within the move list. These moves are not analyzed and you may save a significant amount of time. Copies the variants into the Windows Buffer or save variants as text file Copying of the variants into the Windows Buffer is identical to Strg+C in other applications. You can insert for example afterwards the variants in an E-Mail program with Strg+V . Example: Someone does not own Pirat and it asks you a to analyse a position using Pirat. Via Windows buffer or as an attachment to your email you may send the result. Saving and restoring of analysis Example: You are using your computer overnight to analyze an
interesting position.. On the next day you receive the reply of another
correspondence chess partner. In this game you have however hardly time left to
answer. Of course it would be very annoying, if you have to terminate the
current analysis, even if you would like to see one ply more . Hint: For minor work on your PC, like E-Mail, writing letter etc., it is possible to freeze the analysis (by using the pause-button) and continue as soon you are settled with your work. The difference is that using the pause-button all data remains in the main-memory or swap-area instead saved into/read from a file. |
